Drupal CMS Academy Planning Session #3

  • Length: 50:09 minutes (22.96 MB)
  • Format: Mono 44kHz 64Kbps (CBR)

This week, we kicked around ideas for the Academy's web site interface. The Academy (as well as much of Worldbridges) runs on a Drupal installation, so we have a lot of options to create, layout and present content on the site.  Whether you know a little or a lot about Drupal, we look forward to hearing your ideas about ways to enhance the Drupal CMS Academy's navigation, content creation options and more!

10/1/06 12:53:09 Graham: hi everyone
10/1/06 12:54:46 JenM: http://www.cmsacademy.net/drupal/node/60
10/1/06 12:54:47 JasonR: Question, the URL that Drupal generates, it's not very descriptive..."http://www.cmsacademy.net/drupal/node/61". Is there a way for it to do more descriptive permalinks, something like..."http://www.cmsacademy.net/drupal/planning_sesssion_#2"
10/1/06 12:55:31 JasonR: Just curious if it's possible, don't need all the details yet, unless you want to go there.
10/1/06 12:56:21 JasonR: Is this what you mean by taxonomy?
10/1/06 12:57:19 JasonR: Hello Graham
10/1/06 12:57:33 Graham: Hi Jason
10/1/06 12:57:36 adaptives: Hi Graham
10/1/06 12:57:39 Graham: how are things?
10/1/06 12:58:00 JL: hello graham... standby for answers to ?'s
10/1/06 12:58:25 JasonR: Trying to fit the large amount of new info about CMS and Drupal into the little amount of brain-power I have today. :)
10/1/06 12:58:41 Graham: I know what you mean totally
10/1/06 12:58:48 JL: me too
10/1/06 12:58:53 Graham: I'm trying to keep up with everything
10/1/06 12:58:57 Graham: and failing
10/1/06 12:59:00 Graham: :)
10/1/06 12:59:15 JasonR: <=== very interestedin themes
10/1/06 12:59:57 JenM: http://www.cmsacademy.net/drupal/node/60
10/1/06 13:00:14 adaptives: Yes I agree :-)
10/1/06 13:00:28 Graham: what's your favourite theme Jeff?
10/1/06 13:00:39 JasonR likes the treatment/theme at this one... http://home.eisf.org/node/1083
10/1/06 13:02:05 JasonR: Can do that with Wordpress
10/1/06 13:02:07 adaptives: Is .../node/60 permanant is can it change? Is it safe to link to?
10/1/06 13:02:41 JL: as long as you don't change the permalink you
10/1/06 13:02:42 JasonR: Needed .htaccess to impliment on my blog. Still not sure what that means
10/1/06 13:02:44 JL: ve chosen
10/1/06 13:02:55 Graham: I like the current edtechtalk theme
10/1/06 13:04:09 adaptives: I think .htaccess limits open access to resources within that directory from a regular HTTP GET/POST request... though I could be wrong.
10/1/06 13:05:05 JenM: http://www.cmsacademy.net/drupal/node/57
10/1/06 13:05:59 JasonR: That's the biggest barrier for my personal entry to Drupal. I have shared hosting on a server in CA. Not my own machine. Figured out the Wordpress install, easy-squeezy. But what to do with Drupal?
10/1/06 13:06:20 Graham: just logged in with the Nifty Corners theme - very cool, but when you go into the chat room, it resets to the previous theme
10/1/06 13:08:09 adaptives: Jason there is a very economical way to get your own server. Rimuhosting and probably other providers too offer VPS solutions. It is a simulated linux box with root access. I believe their plans start at $18/month...
10/1/06 13:11:16 JasonR: Using this host, at $6/month: http://laughingsquid.net/hosting.php#tiny . Plus can't beat the fact that the cephalopodcast.com is hosted on laughingsquid.net
10/1/06 13:13:07 JenM: http://bluehost.com/
10/1/06 13:16:24 JasonR: Not sure if they do drupal
10/1/06 13:17:08 JasonR: shared or dedicated?
10/1/06 13:17:44 JasonR: A hosting horror story... http://maccast.terraform.com/
10/1/06 13:18:10 JasonR: TY
10/1/06 13:18:13 JasonR: Great
10/1/06 13:18:23 JasonR claps
10/1/06 13:18:51 Graham: yes, thankyou
10/1/06 13:19:18 JasonR: Then BB patented it all ;)
10/1/06 13:19:20 JasonR: JK
10/1/06 13:20:13 Graham: lol
10/1/06 13:20:42 Graham: I'm sorry, but I have a class to prepare for tomorrow...and then the end of '24' to watch
10/1/06 13:20:57 Graham: and the Internet cafe closes too
10/1/06 13:21:15 Graham: thankyou Jen and Jeff
10/1/06 13:21:28 adaptives: Thanks all//
